The pages of the website http://media.euskonews.com have been designed and reviewed according to the standards set out in the document 'Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0', authored by the Web Accessibility Initiative working party belonging to the World Wide Web Consortium - W3C.

The aim of these guidelines is to facilitate access to information offered on the Internet for everyone. Amongst the main measures which have been adopted are the following:

Standards

The language used for content and its structure is HTML 4.01, and to arrange the elements and present them graphically Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) have been used. All the pages have been validated as HTML 4.01 and CSS 2.0.

Pictures

All the pictures contain a brief description through the attribute alt.

Links

All the links contain a description through the attribute title.

Text size

The fonts used have relative sizing, which allows the user to control their size through the browser which he or she is using.

Navigating

The website facilitates coherent navigation by keeping the structure the same in all its pages. This structure is composed of:

• A navigation bar in the left-hand margin of the pages with links to the website's main menu.
• A horizontal bar in the upper part from which one may navigate to the versions in other languages.
• Another horizontal navigation bar in the lower part of the pages, from which one may access the sections Site Map, Legal Notice, Privacy Policy, Accessibility and Contact.
• A central area in which the actual content of the website is shown.

Design

This website uses layers and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for the visual design of the pages. Thus the content is independent of the presentation, and users who wish to do so may navigate through the information disabling the downloading of style sheets to their browsers.

Level of accessibility

The site www.eusko-ikaskuntza.org has been validated with the TAW and W3C Markup Validation Service tools. The level of accessibility achieved is double A (AA), with some triple A (AAA) standards being met.

The following icons certify that the design of the website meets the accessibility requirements quoted:

• Conforms to 3WC specifications for the language HTML 4.01.
• Conforms to the syntax specified by 3WC for the CSS 2.0 style sheets.
• Conforms to the Web Accessibility Initiative's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, with Double A level.
